Dan Fitzgerald Sonnet

Sadly, I write an ode to Fitzgerald,

Deep roots in Ireland, a proud Emerald.

A young lad born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin,

Tall, Irish blue eyes and a cheerful grin.

 

Korea called, Dan performed with USO,

Married Dolores, Florida they'd go.

A true showman, lover of stage and screen,

Cast as cop, mayor, doctor in the scene.

 

President - Florida's Screen Actor's Guild,

The Emerald Society he helped build.

Dan led The St. Patrick's Day Festival,

As the M.C. he was impeccable.

 

We will always remember "Danny Boy" and how he sings,

Dan Fitzgerald, the last of the stateside Irish Kings.
