Hemingway and boat Pilar made their name,

Key West, Bimini, Cuba fished Big Game.

Mornings writing, afternoons catching mackerel,

Joined by local Sloppy Joe Russell.

Sailing east to ‘the end of the world’ isle,

Bimini’s blue fin tuna fit his style.

Solitude and clear waters of sapphire,

Angled with Lerner, stories for Esquire.

Chasing marlin with Fuentes, his first mate,

Navigating the warm Florida Straights.

“Old Man and the Sea” won Ernest Nobel,

Medal gifted to Cuban church, not Fidel.

Writing, fishing, experiencing  life on the Gulf Stream,

Inside this triangle, Hemingway lived his bold dream.
